Some will remain profoundly affected, while others will advance, or were born more advanced. The difficulties are still there, but less pronounced. My family is full of Autism, from the very severe to Aspergers. I understand where you’re coming from, but I do disagree. There are differences in severity in most disorders. It is,however, unfortunate that the lowest functioning are often overlooked.

I hear what you’re saying…I’m sorry, I come across snappy about all this..probably because I’ve spent so many years isolated and trapped in this intense, insane world that I have a hard time understanding how high F autism has anything to do with what we go through….plus, I’ve seen too many kids diagnosed with autism that are clearly NOT autistic–aside from a few speech delays they recover from. All this, angers parents of severely autistic children, as to us: .autism is a serious disorder

  6. Resistoon says:

Temple stated laptop computer light is better because the light doesn’t flicker. Apparently she doesn’t know that laptops use a fluorescent bulb behind the screen. Just like the 60hz tubes on ceilings.

  7. GalekC says:

Maybe it just doesn’t bother her as much.

  8. duckhouse21 says:

    @Resistoon

Not anymore, most newer notebooks have LED backlighting, making it flicker free, a whole lot more energy efficient, and brighter.

  9. absoftitanium says:

Did you hear her talk about the frequency? What is the frequency of the light in a laptop? Do you think she is lying? Ya fuckin’ stooge.

  10. blacklac3 says:

    she is amazing.

Apparently you don’t know laptops use LED back lighting.

  12. Eyelash85 says:

I wouldn’t say she is autistic. God prepared her for being significant in the society, and like her many autistic will follow. She just opened the door first in many aspects.

I JUST saw the movie Temple Grandin,. IT made me cry because it was wonderfully courageous and insporational. Made me search her and find these clips on you tube.I think she is an angel of God sent here to have this, and share this so that HOPEFULLY, people will learn from her and I hope appreciate, and believe her. I think she is WONDERFUL !!

Im autistic, and I know my tinted glasses help out greatly. I didnt know other people couldnt see the flicker of lights, or hear the ringing of CRT TVs.

  16. Hualani says:

What I got from the Grandin video is that autism covers a very wide spectrum from severe to mild and can overlap with other disorders such as anxiety. Some autistics become more functional with physical and pharmacological therapy. The Autism and Aspergers debate is not what Dr. Grandin is discussing. More research is needed to understand how other disorders affect people with various developmental disabilities so that treatment programs can be developed to make people more functional.

I felt the same way after watching her movie. I can’t begin to explain what an affect she, and the movie had on me. I think you right about her being an angel of God. My friend’s son is autistic and I’m definetely going to have her watch this movie. Temple is an inspiration to all!!!

@doggzilla1 I can hear the ringing of CRT TVs, in fact even if one is hidden in a room I can tell if one is on… Sometimes I can hear other types of electronics; I thought EVERYBODY could hear that, whether they were autistic or not?

  20. conyelp says:

Temple Grandin, I have all kinds of respect and admiration for this woman. She could just sit back and do whatever interests her but she continues to teach and help us and people with these problems. God Bless You TEMPLE!!
